OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma consistently ranks near the top of the list of states with the worst bridge conditions. Monday morning, Governor Mary Fallin announced a new initiative to fix all of Oklahoma's state highway bridges that are structurally deficient, within the next eight years.
The Oklahoma Department Of Transportation says the total cost of the project is $4.7 billion.
Governor Fallin said the project can be accomplished without raising taxes, fees or tolls.
Across Oklahoma's state highways, there are 706 bridges that are currently identified as structurally deficient.
"And that's way too many," Fallin said at the Capitol. "Under our new plan, we'll bring that number close to zero by 2019." FULL ARTICLE & WATCH VIDEO
