Gov. Brad Henry vetoed nearly twice as many bills this year as his previous high.
Henry, a Democrat, struck down 40 bills this year sent to him by the Republican-controlled Legislature. He vetoed 21 last year, the first year he dealt with the GOP in control in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The House went Republican after the 2004 elections. Republicans gained Senate control after the 2008 elections.
Legislators during their four-month session that ended May 28 sent 522 bills and resolutions to the governor.
