Governor to consider whether Oklahoma Department of Transportation can sell $70 in bonds

Bill is a key part of Oklahoma’s $6.5 billion budget deal for 2012.

A key component of the state budget sailed through the Oklahoma Legislature’s upper chamber on Wednesday after failing a day earlier.

House Bill 2171 would let the Oklahoma Department of Transportation sell $70 million in bonds.

The measure now heads to Gov. Mary Fallin for consideration.

Tuesday, the measure failed to secure the needed votes, but Senate Appropriations and Budget Committee Chairman David Myers, R-Ponca City, held the measure on a motion to reconsider.
