Harrison construction will not conflict with Kickapoo project

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Planned work on the Farrall loop and Harrison Street will not be going on at the same time as work on the Kickapoo Street reconstruction project.

John Krywicki, Shawnee’s city engineer, said the Harrsison Street and Farrall loop work should be done in early summer, if there are no major delays.

“The Harrison road is just an overlay job,” he said. “They’ll be long gone before Kickapoo starts. It won’t coincide with the Kickapoo project. People won’t be inconvenienced on that.”

The Harrison Street project is one of four the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will work on later this spring and summer in Pottawatomie County.

Cost of the project will be just under $1 million and Haskell Lemon Construction Co., from Oklahoma City, has the contract for the work.

The project calls for the complete resurfacing of SH 18 (Harrison) from Beard and Farrall east, then north, to Interstate 40 a total of 4.61 miles.

David Meuser, ODOT spokesman, said three of the four projects, including Harrison Street, must begin by June 6. That project should take about 40 days to complete. A project concerning SH 102 near Wanette, must begin by May 2 and be completed within 30 days... FULL ARTICLE
