$20M In Federal Funds Jump-Start Project

LEFLORE COUNTY, Okla. -- Major improvements are on the map for one local highway.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has approved plans to widen U.S. Highway 59 in LeFlore County.
The highway will expand to four lanes from state Highway 9 to the Arkansas River Bridge in LeFlore County.
The project will also include surface, drain, and bridge repairs.
Oklahoma legislators said the more than $20 million project is made possible through federal transportation stimulus funding.
