Highway projects in Yukon and Woodward County gain Transportation Commission approval

Approval of a $13 million Yukon bridge replacement project and a $21 million highway widening project in Woodward County highlighted Monday's meeting of the Oklahoma Transportation Commission.

In Yukon, a replacement bridge over the North Canadian River will be constructed on State Highway 4, which is known as Piedmont Road in Yukon.

Manhattan Road & Bridge Co. of Tulsa was awarded the project with a winning bid of $13.1 million. The contractor will construct the bridge and widen State Highway 4 from Wagner Road, which is north of State Highway 66, to Wilshire Boulevard.

The current bridge over the North Canadian River actually is made up of three short box bridges that are linked end-to-end, state transportation officials said, and those bridges are considered to be structurally deficient. The new bridge will be one long bridge... FULL ARTICLE
