TULSA – A new design for sign support, approved by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, is being installed along major highways in the Tulsa metro.
The structures, called monotubes, have been approved for several stretches of interstate highway in Tulsa, said Kenna Mitchell, ODOT spokewoman.
Claremore-based Pelco Structural LLC, an affiliate of Edmond-based Pelco Products Inc., has installed the first of the structures in northeast Oklahoma, said Phil Albert, president of Pelco Structural.
Instead of the current boxlike truss structures that have been used for decades on major highways, the monotubes employ a single large steel tube to suspend signs over the highway, Albert said... FULL ARTICLE
