Motorists heading to downtown Oklahoma City on eastbound Interstate 40 Crosstown can look forward to another exit perhaps as early as the end of the year.
And work on taking apart a section of the no-longer-used eastbound elevated Crosstown is under way. Taking apart an 800-foot section of the bridge began this week in the N Lincoln Boulevard area on the eastern edge of the elevated highway.
The section of bridge needs to be removed so that a permanent roadway connecting I-40 with the new westbound Crosstown can begin, Paul Green, state Transportation Department division engineer for the area that includes Oklahoma City, said Tuesday.
Work to take apart the rest of the elevated Crosstown will begin in several weeks shortly after westbound traffic is taken off the 46-year-old bridge and directed onto the new westbound section of roadway, he said... FULL ARTICLE
