Any Sandite commuters who regularly drive into Tulsa may want to take note: The I-44 widening project is entering a new phase.
Beginning Monday, a portion of I-44 between 41st St. South and State Highway 51 (the Broken Arrow Expressway) will come under construction.
The project will widen I-44 from four to six lanes and move the westbound I-44 ramp at 41st St. further west, said officials with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
The new off-ramp will route traffic onto 41st St. near Hudson Avenue. The project is expected to take a year to complete.
