Inhofe zings McCain over earmarks

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe says he's devoted a chapter in an upcoming book on climate change to fellow Republican John McCain of Arizona.

Apparently, it's not going to be too flattering.

Twice in public appearances this week, Inhofe has veered off attacks on Democrats and the Obama Administration to go after McCain.

"He is the most amazing anomaly in the history of politics," Inhofe said Tuesday morning at a Tulsa Metro Chamber breakfast. "He can vote for all of the big-spending things and get away with it because of one thing ... earmarks."

Actually, it's McCain's opposition to earmarks that irks Inhofe.

Inhofe maintains that earmarks, properly used, are a valid part of the appropriation process, and that recent Republican aversion to them has interfered with legitimate government functions... FULL ARTICLE
