JENKS - Additional Creek Turnpike entrance and exit ramps could be coming to Jenks, with the City Council approving a contract with an engineering firm Monday night to conduct a feasibility study.
The ramps would provide access to the Village on Main and Oklahoma Aquarium north of the turnpike and to the River District to the south.
City Manager Mike Tinker said most urban turnpikes have exits about every mile and that Jenks, which has area exits at Elm Street and U.S. 75, needs more turnpike access, especially in the future.
"We feel like Elm is already overburdened," Tinker said, noting that traffic sometimes stalls on the turnpike ramps to and from Elm Street.
