WASHINGTON - Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe and U.S. Rep. James Lankford played down major differences Tuesday between a five-year transportation bill unveiled in the House and a two-year Senate version.
"Our goal is to just to get to conference,'' said Inhofe, the top Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and a major player on transportation issues.
"I don't care how they do it. Frankly, I don't care how we do it.''
On differences between the two versions, the senator said "that is just how it should be.''
"Congress works best when each chamber moves their own bill,'' Inhofe said.
Lankford, a freshman Republican member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, conceded the process up to now has been frustrating... FULL ARTICLE
