Judge issues warning to Oklahoma schools about SQ 744 flier

A judge Friday warned superintendents at Oklahoma public school districts that they could be in violation of state law if they passed out fliers advocating State Question 744 to students.

A judge Friday warned superintendents at Oklahoma public school districts that they could be in violation of state law if they passed out fliers advocating State Question 744 to students.

Oklahoma County District Judge Patricia Parrish said any superintendent will be acting at his or her "own peril."

The judge was told by attorneys a violation could be considered a misdemeanor.

The judge said she believes fliers already passed out in the Yukon School District advocate passage of the state question. She said that while the flier does not say, "vote yes," "it says everything short of that." FULL ARTICLE
