Kickapoo Street project delayed

SHAWNEE, Okla.
—The Kickapoo Street reconstruction project in Shawnee will not go to bid in November as planned, Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials have confirmed.

The department is waiting to receive official word the city has moved all the utility lines and acquired all the necessary right of way, ODOT official Shannoon Sheffert said.

Shawnee sent a letter on Oct. 3 informing ODOT the utilities had been moved, City Engineer John Krywicki said.

“The city has all the utilities relocated and we sent notice to ODOT saying the project corridor was cleared of utilities,” Krywicki said.

The city has the right-of-way easements on all but one property. The property is at the Sinclair gas station near the intersection of Kickapoo and University Drive. The city filed condemnation on the property in August to take the owner to court... FULL ARTICLE
