EDMOND — As the debate over State Question 744 and the importance of education funding heats up, a new report from the Education Law Center (ELC) shows that Oklahoma lags far behind other states in school funding.
The report, “Is School Funding Fair? A National Report Card,” examines the level and distribution of education funding in each of the 50 states. According to the report:
• Oklahoma ranks 38th out of the 50 states for education “funding effort”
• Oklahoma ranks 49th out of the 50 states for education funding level
While the finding that Oklahoma funds education less than other states is not news (many state educators and parents have been lamenting this fact for years) this report is noteworthy because of the way these rankings were determined... FULL ARTICLE
