Owners of shops, bars, restaurants and other businesses in the 51st Street and Harvard Avenue area are seeing an increase in business after traffic lanes were recently reopened on Harvard, but they still need people to come back to the area.
For nearly two years during the Interstate 44 expansion, Tulsa residents have been steering clear of Harvard Avenue near 51st Street, where lines of cars have been stacked at all hours of the day and doubly so during rush hour.
But work crews opened street lanes under and on top of the major interstate project last week, showing people in the area their first glimpse of the benefits from the expansion, an Oklahoma Department of Transportation official said.
Erin Lee, co-owner of Dusty Dog Pub at 51st and Harvard, said getting around in the area now is "a breeze. There's no congestion at all."
Even during rush hour, traffic is moving at a quick pace, she said... FULL ARTICLE
