OKLAHOMA CITY
- Oklahoma lawmakers will consider 2,005 new pieces of legislation this year.

Thursday was the deadline for legislators to file bills to be considered during the legislative session, which opens Feb. 6.

State House members filed 962 bills and 26 joint resolutions. Senate members filed 972 bills and 45 joint resolutions.

Both numbers are down slightly from last year's opening session of the Legislature.

House and Senate methods varied slightly on how last year's legislative totals were counted, but a rough number for the two houses combined is 2,200.

In addition to the new proposals, many of last year's efforts remain alive when the Legislature convenes.

Bills and joint resolutions that were not defeated either in committee or floor votes remain available for consideration this year. That means some 1,822 proposals from last year are still alive this year, including 965 House bills, 753 Senate bills, 63 House joint resolutions and 41 Senate joint resolutions... FULL ARTICLE

Mandatory E&O is a reactive maseure to consumer protection as opposed to a proactive maseure. Introduction of mandatory E&O does nothing to protect consumers and only adds new problems for them to deal with. Instead of a reactive maseure a more appropriate proactive maseure is to stringently enforce the existing laws and rules to prevent consumers from encountering a bad Inspector/inspection in the first place!I myself do not support a mandatory E&O and suspect that TAR will do nothing as you point out they have no incentive to.

Before anyone jumps for joy about Ohio HB 14, you might relaly want to go through it with a fine tooth comb, I mean relaly read it to understand it. It leaves alot of unanswered questions, and relaly opens up a can of worms for ALL dog owners, not just dogs known as Pit Bulls. Just a few points, under the new law, if your dog bites you, in your home, it can be declared a Dangerous Dog . Under the new law, if you are cited into court three times for the same dog running at large, and it does not give a time span for the citations, and the dog does not have to be aggressive, it can be declared dangerous. Really the way the bill is written, I can see alot of dogs being declared dangerous which now involves a whole lot more than the old vicious dog law required. If you have not read the bill I would encourage all dog owners to do so, it affects all all breeds equally, but harshly. I am not pro or con as I don't own a dog, but people need to be aware of what is in store for them in this new bill once it is signed into law. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
