TAHLEQUAH — Local officials said Friday they are working with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to expedite the process of eventually installing a signal light at a dangerous Tahlequah intersection.
Police were completing a report Friday after investigating another injury crash at the intersection of West Fourth Street and the State Highway 51 Bypass. Currently, stop signs for east-west traffic are the only traffic controls at the intersection, and the speed limit on that portion of the bypass for north-south traffic is 65 mph.
State Rep. Mike Brown, D-Tahlequah, said a reduced speed on the bypass may be in store until the light can be installed.
“I’m currently waiting on a response from ODOT engineers to see if there could be immediate measures taken to at least slow the speed there to 55,” he said... FULL ARTICLE
