Main Street Bridge project nears completion

The Main Street Bridge project over Brookhaven Creek is nearly complete.

The project includes restoring and repairing the bridge that collapsed back in August 2018 and stabilizing the stream bank, which threatened peoples homes in the adjacent area. Chris Serrano, project manager, said in Thursday’s project meeting workers determined they are roughly 65 percent complete with the project.

“The bridge is complete, we have some minor sidewalk work to complete on Main Street, and we are currently working on the stream restoration project that was included in this,” Scott Sturtz, city engineer said.

Main Street traffic can drive on permanent roadway, and the mainline is completed. Meanwhile, a good percentage of the High-strength Turf Reinforcement Mat is installed along the creek for soil stabilization, the bridge is complete and 80 percent of the sidewalk is completed on Main Street, Serrano said...
