Major changes readied for U.S. Highway 69 project

Major changes were expected this week as part of the U.S. Highway 69 project in McAlester.

They include plans by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to make the two frontage, or service, roads that run parallel to U.S. Highway 69 one-way roads on Thursday — weather permitting.

Plans were also made to permanently close the highway crossings at the highway traffic signal light at Comanche Avenue and the crossing at Osage Avenue — with the signal light at Peaceable Road already removed and the highway crossing at that site barricaded to traffic.
