Mayor pledges new approach to clearing downtown streets

As new snow fell on the weary city Friday, Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett pledged a new approach to clear downtown streets, as business owners clamored for their employees to be able to return to work.
Instead of scooping up the snow and trucking it out of the central business district, as crews have been, he said, they are going to plow and push the snow to areas that don’t interfere with traffic.

Trucks will then come in to remove it as they become available, Bartlett said.

“I’ve certainly heard from several people that downtown’s been a problem, and I readily agree,” he said. “City Hall is downtown.”

A lot of the stranded cars and buses have been moved out of the way, allowing for this new approach, Bartlett said.

A Friday night monster truck event at the BOK Center was canceled out of concern for patron safety, arena General Manager John Bolton said. Saturday’s show is still a go... FULL ARTICLE
