Tired of the political ads yet?
Sometimes it seems the only ones getting any good out of the flood of negative political ads are the television stations. We doubt the voters have much use for them.
In Oklahoma, the public airwaves have been particularly jammed with ads touting State Question 744 thanks to a huge infusion of out-of-state money in a local campaign.
Yes on 744, the group behind the campaign to mandate that the state spend at least as much on public schools as the average of the surrounding states, has raised $3.87 million for the effort.
It would be an impressive accomplishment, but for this: $3.4 million of that money - nearly 88 percent - was donated by one donor, the National Education Association, a national teachers union.
By contrast, the ONE Oklahoma Coalition - the opposition to SQ 744 - has raised $1.29 million, most of it coming from Oklahoma sources... FULL ARTICLE
