Portion of Interstate 40 project has an estimated cost of $80 million

A critical piece of the new Interstate 40 remains unfunded even after
more than $500 million in federal stimulus money was given to the state
Transportation Department.
While the new I-40 is on schedule to open in 2012, a grand boulevard
that will reconnect downtown to the new interstate remains unfunded and
off the department’s eight-year work plan.
It is hoped that the boulevard will open in 2014. Oklahoma City officials have planned a number of downtown improvements that were spurred by the boulevard being open.
