New federal grant expected to improve infrastructure in U.S. military cities

A new bill passed in the United States House of Representatives this week that will set aside $50-million dollars towards improving military communities across the country.

The bill is called the Defense Communities Infrastructure Program. Towns across America, like the City of Converse, will apply for portions of the grant.

“[We’re] very excited,” said Converse Mayor Al Suarez. “I was very excited and so was my staff. We have projects that need to get going.”
