No budget agreement yet with 3 weeks remaining

OKLAHOMA CITY — As the session heads into the final stretch, Gov. Brad Henry and legislative leaders have yet to announce a budget agreement for the 2011 fiscal year.

Meanwhile, various special interest groups have held press conferences and rallies at the Capitol in the hope they will be spared from what are expected to be significant cuts.

They range from those who rely on mental health services to those who receive services for developmental disabilities.

The Legislature must adjourn by the last Friday in May.

State agencies have been cutting budgets in response to declining state revenues. They have offered voluntary buyout agreements, implemented furlough days and reduced programs and services... FULL ARTICLE
