The Nowata County Commissioners approved the Oklahoma Department of Transportation County Certification mileage for 2011. Commission chairman Tim Kilpatrick explained how ODOT certified Nowata County roads. According to Kilpatrick, the state has cut approximately 2.3 miles of road for Nowata County. This determines how much funding Nowata County will get from the state. In other items, the commissioners approved a jail contract and agreement with the City of Nowata and the county. Sheriff James Hallett recommended the board accept the contract.
