The Oklahoma Department of Transportation chose Garver LLC Monday to complete the initial engineering studies and construction plans for the new Interstate 244 westbound bridge over the Arkansas River.
ODOT commissioners awarded the company a $2.5 million contract at the agency’s regular meeting Monday. Garver LLC has an office in Tulsa.
Last month, the federal government awarded ODOT a $49.48 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant, also known as a TIGER grant, to help replace the bridge. The total cost of the westbound project is estimated at $80 million, said Gary Ridley, ODOT director.
The estimated cost of the adjacent eastbound bridge is $45 million to $50 million. The state has yet to solidify funding for that bridge...
