ADA—An Oklahoma Department of Transportation representative said Thursday the reason four-lane access to Ada has been stalled is due, in part, to low traffic counts. ODOT officials were at Ada Public Library as part of a series of public meetings across Oklahoma regarding long range transportation plans.
During the question and answer session, Steve Turner, Ada resident, asked why priorities changed in getting four-lane access to Ada from the Turner Turnpike on Highways 377 and 99.
Ron Brown, ODOT Division 3 construction engineer, said priorities changed because of traffic counts.
“What happened to some of those projects, quite frankly, was the ADT (Average Daily Traffic),” he said. “Once we started balancing and trying to put our priorities together, some of the traffic counts that we were seeing marginally did not warrant a four-lane roadway through here.”
Brown said ODOT has seen the need for four-lane access along that corridor and the department plans on completing it when possible... FULL ARTICLE
