ODOT plans I-40 hearing in El Reno

April 27, 2009

EL RENO – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has scheduled an informational meeting about an upcoming construction project on Interstate 40 in Canadian County at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Canadian Valley Technology Center on Highway 66 in El Reno.

The project is partially funded by the federal economic stimulus package.

Information will be available on plans to improve about seven miles of I-40 between Yukon and El Reno. Planned improvements include roadway reconstruction, resurfacing, safety improvements and reconstruction of bridges. Two lanes of eastbound and westbound I-40 will remain open throughout the construction project, which is scheduled to start in May.

An average of 39,000 vehicles travel this section of I-40 daily. More than 28 percent of the traffic is classified as commercial truck traffic.
