ODOT plans resurfacing projects

SHAWNEE, Okla. — This spring, both major arterial north-south streets in Shawnee might be under construction at the same time.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has plans to begin resurfacing SH 18, Harrison Street and Farrall Street from Beard Street on the south to Interstate 40 on the north.

ODOT set a bid opening for 10:30 a.m., Jan. 20, in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Transportation Commission should approve the project in February, with construction beginning anywhere from two weeks to two months after that.

Once started, the project should take about 40 days to complete.

The project consists of a stretch of Farrall Street from Beard to where it curves north into Harrison, then from that curve north to I-40.

Bill Wilkinson, engineer for ODOT, said the project is 4.61 miles.

“It’s a mill and inlay,” he said, meaning the contractor will take off about an inch and a half of the existing asphalt and replace it... FULL ARTICLE
