OKLAHOMA CITY -- Transportation officials said they plan to move forward quickly with plans for construction projects if Congress passes further stimulus packages following the president's economic plan last week.
"I have a lot of confidence in our delegation," said Gary Ridley, Oklahoma Department of Transportation director. "To put everyone's mind at ease ... the department will be ready for whatever package comes down."
Officials will have to determine what Congress will do in terms of allocating funds to infrastructure, Ridley said during a Monday special ODOT Commissioner meeting.
Ridley said a generous stimulus package would speed up the department's eight-year plan and could push future projects along in planning.
"We have a backlog of needs," he said. "I support investment into infrastructure."
