NORMAN — The overpass straddling Interstate 35 at Rock Creek Road will open at the end of this month, unless further delays push the date back.
Public Works Director Shawn O’Leary said the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, which is overseeing and partially funding the construction of the ornate bridge, granted contractors an extension set to expire on July 27.
The previous contract had expired on July 7.
“There were delays due to weather and pavement problems ... but we think July 27 sounds about right,” O’Leary said. “Right now, a lot of the focus is on the finishing touches.”
O’Leary said the idea for the $12.5 million Rock Creek overpass traces its roots to the inception of the ambitious University North Park Tax Increment Finance district... FULL ARTICLE
