Officials announce statewide road projects affecting holiday travel

In anticipation for holiday travel, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation announced the following construction projects on major highways from Friday to Tuesday.

Officials said that all projects are weather permitting.

Statewide:

- The right lane of southbound Interstate 35 is closed two miles south of the Kansas border.

- North and southbound U.S. 77 are down to one lane north of Newkirk at Chilocco.

- Northbound U.S. 69 is narrowed to one lane north of Durant, from the Armstrong interchange north 8 miles.

- Southbound U.S. 69 is narrowed to one lane north of Atoka, from the Pittsburg County line south 8 miles.

- U.S. 69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction, and the on and off-ramps at Indian Nation Turnpike are closed. Officials said that traffic exiting U.S. 69 onto the turnpike should use U.S. 270 as a detour.
