Officials hear appeal for lower speeds on highway near Kingston (ARTICLE & VIDEO)

KINGSTON, Okla. -- The need for a lower speed limit on U.S. 70 was the topic at a Wednesday meeting in Kingston.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation Chairman David Burrage, highway engineers, and state representatives talked with citizens who are concerned about the danger along a stretch of pavement east of Kingston.

They presented a petition with thousands of signatures calling for a reduction in the speed limit.

In June, there was a fiery accident involving an 18-wheeler that veered off the road near the Texoma Casino to avoid hitting a stalled car. The driver of the big rig, 52-year-old Scottie Roper of Marietta, was killed... FULL ARTICLE & WATCH VIDEO
