Officials say by Tuesday night, Wekiwa Road will be open to two-way traffic.
Work on the project to add lanes at the State Hwy 97 intersection and to widen Wekiwa Road began in January.
The total construction cost is $3.2 million, and its original completion deadline was Oct. 31.
Officials from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation managing the project informed the city about a week ago that the contractor, APAC Oklahoma, anticipated the entire roadway to open by Wednesday, weather permitting.
Mark Williams, engineering manager for the ODOT Sand Springs residency, said there wasn't one specific reason why the deadline was moved.
"After almost 10 months, to be nine days late, we lost about a day a month, so there's no one cause," he said... FULL ARTICLE
