OK Earthquake is largest in recorded history for OK at 5.6 magnitude, damage reported

A series of earthquakes have been plagueing the Oklahoma state on Saturday November 5th, 2011 and on Sunday November 6th, 2011. The earthquakes started with smaller trembles and eventually increased to a 5.6 magnitude at 10:53pm CST. The OK earthquake 5.6 magnitude is the largest earthquake since records have been kept on earthquake activity.

The USGS first reported the earthquake at a 5.2 magnitude quake but soon after upgraded this to a 5.6 magnitude. The 5.6 tremblor was about 44 miles East-Northeast of Oklahoma City and could be felt as far as Kansas City, Southeast Nebraska and through many parts of Missouri.

Damaged roads, highways, homes, buildings and infrastructure have been reported throughout the parts hit by the Oklahoma quake. The Lincoln County Emergency Management has posted messages on Facebook stating, “Very significant damages are being reported in southern Lincoln County.” Highways like the US-62 were crumbled in pieces and one major road was blocked by a boulder that had rolled into the road...
