OK state question would tie signature requirement to # of voters in gubernatorial election

If passed, SQ 750 makes it easier to get issues on the ballot

It would be easier to get a law passed by a vote of the public or overturned under a state question on the ballot in November.

State Question 750 lowers the number of signatures needed to get a state question on the ballot. Under current Oklahoma law, a group trying to get a measure on the ballot would have to collect a certain percentage of the total number of votes cast in the last general election. Some years that number could be tied to the presidential election, in other years the gubernatorial election.

SQ 750 is one of 11 measures on the ballot in November.

If the state question is approved, all signature amounts would be tied to the number of people who voted in the gubernatorial election. For ballot access advocates, this would be a win since more people tend to vote in a presidential election... FULL ARTICLE
