Britton-May intersection needs some attention, reader says

You've heard of "A Tale of Two Cities?"

This may not be the Charles Dickens classic, but it's a story of a location where two cities have a shared interest.

Don, when can we expect north May Avenue from 63rd (Street) to Britton Road to be re-surfaced? It seems there are ongoing drainage problems, certainly at Britton and May, that make this stretch of road deteriorate quickly. Should the intersections be done in concrete to make them last longer? Also, I thought one of the core functions of a government was to provide roads but it seems that our city does not "escrow" enough for roads and drainage to keep up? What do you know about this?

This needs comments from those who know what goes on there, David. So ...

"The city limits of Oklahoma City at Britton and May is 33 feet south of the section line of Britton, which is approximately the center of the street, so most of that intersection cannot be repaired by Oklahoma City," says George Storm, the city's paving and surfacing coordinator." FULL ARTICLE
