The passage of MAPS 3 was the business community’s crowning achievement during 2009, the chairman of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber said Thursday at the group’s annual meeting.
"I have no doubt that our chamber led the effort and provided both the air support with the media campaign and the ground support at the grassroots level,” Chairman David Thompson said. Thompson also praised the efforts of chamber members, Mayor Mick Cornett and most of the city council for supporting the seven-year sales tax designed to collect $777 million to continuing citywide progress that began with the first MAPS in 1993.
