Oklahoma Department of Transportation: Summer heat buckles Shawnee roadway

As the summer continues to creep toward 100-degree temps, area roadways are beginning to see instances of damage.

In an 8:27 p.m. Facebook post Wednesday from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), officials warned drivers that a small section of pavement on Harrison Street just north of Interstate 40 had buckled from the heat.

“This was reported to us by the Shawnee Police Dept. (Wednesday) night,” Cody Boyd, ODOT Media and Public Relations Division, said.

Damage was limited to the curbside southbound lane of SH-18 (Harrison) just south of the intersection at Garrett’s Lake Road... FULL ARTICLE
