Developments Thursday on State Question 744:
• Five of the six members of the State Board of Education announced they will vote in favor of State Question 744. Board Member Betsy Maybry, former teacher of the year, declined to say how she was voting, and state schools Superintendent Sandy Garrett declined to comment.
• Kathy Taylor, the governor's education consultant and former mayor of Tulsa, announced she is opposed to SQ 744. "I am deeply concerned about the impact it will make on other services necessary for our kids," Taylor said, who helped draft the state's application for millions in education funding for the Race to the Top. "We need to move the state forward in a fashion that unites Oklahoma and does not pit public education against the interests and resources of all other areas of vital state services." FULL ARTICLE
