A routine budgetary action taken Thursday by the State Regents for Higher Education provided a glimpse at how State Question 744 could affect college costs.
Higher education officials said tuition could jump by as much as 10 percent next year if SQ 744 passes, compared with an estimated 5 percent if it fails.
The measure on the Nov. 2 ballot would require Oklahoma to increase its state funding for common education so it matches the per-pupil average of surrounding states.
Higher education officials think state money for colleges would be reduced to pay for these increases, and tuition would have to be boosted to make up for the shortfall... FULL ARTICLE
