Oklahoma legislature calls it a wrap on session

Oklahoma lawmakers pass measures relating to tax credits and consolidations.

Lawmakers put a wild cap on the legislative session Friday as they passed measures in the waning minutes that scaled back restrictions on several tax credits and beat back a plan to consolidate several state agencies.

The House of Representatives passed and sent to the governor three revenue-enhancing measures that were vital to the $6.7 billion budget agreement reached a week earlier by Democratic Gov. Brad Henry and GOP legislative leaders.

The plan to consolidate several agencies was released with slightly more than an hour remaining in the session. Republicans and Democrats complained about such a bill, which was estimated to save the state about $5 million, being unveiled for the first time so late in the session... FULL ARTICLE
