OKLAHOMA CITY - State revenues began the first month of the fiscal year on a good note, according to information released Tuesday.
July collections of $370.1 million were 9.9 percent above the same month last year and 11.9 percent above the official state estimate, according to State Treasurer Scott Meacham's office.
"Collections in all major areas are above the same month of last year," Meacham said. "As we begin the new fiscal year, the recovery of Oklahoma's economy is obviously under way."
While revenue collections have not returned to levels from prior to the economic downturn, a 10 percent bump from last year is not a bad rate of recovery, the treasurer said. However, he cautioned that he doesn't think the state's recovery will continue at the pace it did in July... FULL ARTICLE
