Oklahoma Senator, district attorney win new terms

Oklahoma Election Board upholds challenges from candidates for senate and district attorney, claiming their only opponents failed to meet requirements.

State Sen. David Myers, R-Ponca City, and District Attorney Chris Ross of Ada won four more years in office Friday when they successfully challenged the only contenders in their respective races.

Myers won a third term when independent Ronald R. Buck of Ponca City failed to present a cashier's or certified check of $250 to present his defense.

Myers said Buck switched his political party registration in March; the deadline to do so was Dec. 7, or six months before the start of the filing period for legislative, state and district attorney races.

The Oklahoma State Election Board ruled in favor of Myers. Buck said he might ask the state Supreme Court to take up the matter... FULL ARTICLE
