OKLAHOMA CITY — The number of people killed in traffic accidents in Oklahoma this year continues to fall below the number of fatalities in 2009.

The state Department of Public Safety reported Thursday that 281 people have died in auto accidents in 2010 as of Wednesday. DPS says 392 were killed as of the same date last year.

The report says traffic fatalities in the most recent month of June were down by 28 compared to June 2009 — from 83 last year to 55 in June this year.
