CHILOCCO — U.S. 77 is being repaved and widened south of Arkansas City for the safety of motorists driving past two casinos in the Chilocco area, an Oklahoma transportation official said Monday.
A contractor for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on July 5 began repaving a 3-mile stretch from the Kansas border south into Oklahoma, said ODOT spokesman Cole Hackett.
In addition, a 1-mile area between the First Council and Native Lights casinos will be widened for a left-turn lane for northbound traffic headed to the casinos.
