Heather Sparks, an Oklahoma City teacher and former state Teacher of the Year, called the defeat of State Question 744 a win-win because it created statewide discussion about public education’s needs. Talk about a flawed analysis. We see losers all around.
Children did not win because 744 was only about money – not about reform and what it will take to improve education in this state.
Teachers lost, too. Even those who opposed 744 as misguided now may get lumped in with the money-grubbers who wanted more dollars for common education at the expense of every other government service... FULL ARTICLE
