When they sit down Thursday with the nation's top bond rating agencies to discuss Oklahoma's standing, Gov. Mary Fallin and others are likely to hear that our state needs to take on more bonded indebtedness. The chances of that happening, though, are remote.
The head of the state House Appropriations and Budget Committee, Rep. Earl Sears, said Tuesday that members of the Republican caucus are cool to the idea of proposing any bond issues this session. “The only one that possibly could move forward would be the refurbishing of this building that we stand in,” said Sears, R-Bartlesville.
He was referring to the Capitol, which is in such disrepair that pieces of the exterior are chipping away. Some areas outside the building are roped off to ensure that visitors don't get conked by falling debris... FULL ARTICLE
