OSU, OU decry logo use in campaign ad

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma are fierce competitors, but the presidents of both schools have banded together to fight an ad campaign that has been using their logos.

The campaign urges voters to pass State Question 744, which focuses on funding the two universities. The logos appear in clips of media reports of sporting events.

OSU President Burns Hargis and OU President David Boren issued a joint statement on Wednesday evening.

"We urge those running the media campaign for State Question 744 to stop running an ad, which could cause some voters to get the false impression that colleges and universities, including OU and OSU, are supporting the proposal," the statement said.
